How to Style: Sage
A soft, earthy green that transcends trends, Sage is one of the most popular colours we've ever made. If you see her in person, you'll know why!
When Mustard set out to create the perfect Sage green, we wanted something that would pair as nicely with pastels in a playroom as it would with earthier tones in a living space and even pops of bright colours. Quite the tall order! Luckily, we managed to tick all those boxes with a colour that we think is just right.
"Sage is a timeless, calming shade that looks good anywhere!" — Becca
Thanks to the hint of grey in the undertone, Sage is a soft pastel that doesn't come across as too minty. Instead, she creates a beautiful green ombre when nestled between White and Olive, gives a muted splash of colour in a neutral space, and is bright enough to hold her own next to Mustard, Berry or Navy. If you want to create a relaxed, soothing vibe, Sage might be your answer! Here are three of our favourite ways to style this colour chameleon.
green therapy
You know what they say, greens are good for you! Bring the colours of nature inside with green-on-green goodness. Pairing Sage with Olive creates a soothing, lush palette that looks extra rich when styled with fresh green foliage. Adding some vivid white to this combination brightens it right up, while an Olive wall or accessories lends a moody touch of drama.
pretty pastels
Style Sage with Blush, Ocean and Lilac for a quad of pretty pastels that looks sweet in a nursery and chic in grown-up spaces. Soft and dreamy, these shades add a wash of subtle colour that won't overpower small rooms. Keep the palette cool by pairing Ocean and Sage (whoever said blue and green should never be seen was clearly mistaken!) Blush with Sage creates a cosy, warm vibe, while Lilac and Sage give a fun, modern take on pastel. Mix and match to your heart's content — there are no wrong answers here!
earth to Sage
With its earthy tone, it's no surprise that Sage is the perfect partner for shades of brown, rust and naturals. Mimicking the colour combos seen in nature, styling Sage with earthy colours creates a laid-back aesthetic perfect for homes that embrace indoor-outdoor living. We love mixing Sage with natural fibres and textures such as timber, ceramic, linen and rattan, while touches of brushed brass elevate the look.
