With four lockable doors and adjustable shelving inside, she's a console with confidence. She's an entertainment hub, perfect to house your TV or your vinyl collection. She's the storage solution for toys, shoes, cables and more. Pop her in your entryway, under a window, in your living space or at the foot of your bed.
It's time to set the Standard!

The idea for The Standard first came about when Jess put two Blush Lowdowns side by side to create her very own custom TV cabinet. It looked beautiful and got us thinking… we need a longer locker! The Lowdown is perfect for smaller rooms and little alcoves, but with TVs only getting bigger, there was room in the Mustard family for something else.
But although the inspiration came from an entertainment unit, The Standard had to be more than that. "We design our pieces to be versatile, and to last through many different eras of your life," says Becca. "It's always front of mind when we're adding a new locker to the family – how many different ways can we use this? It's our hope that when someone chooses a Mustard design, that they're choosing something they can keep for years to come, even as their needs change or their style evolves. They have a timeless quality and they're built to last."
It was time to bring in our product designer, Kate.
raise the bar
Kate says "we initially designed The Standard to be a little taller than it is now. When I looked at the first sample next to our other lockers, I decided to reduce the height to give more variation within our product range. We didn't want The Standard to feel just like two Lowdowns together, we wanted her to have her own identity! We wound up with a product that really holds her own, there's nothing else like it in the Mustard family."
The Standard is now lower than The Lowdown (fun fact: when she was in development we were calling her 'The Low-Lowdown') and is the equivalent of approximately one and a half Lowdowns across.
v is for versatile
Just as Becca had planned, The Standard is incredibly versatile and can be used in so many ways. Kate says, "We gave visitors at Sydney's Life InStyle trade show a sneak peek of The Standard, and I loved hearing how they would use it! A few people talked about using it at the end of the bed to store all of your bedding and blankets, which I thought was so clever! When designing The Standard, I was primarily thinking of it as a media storage unit, but customers have suggested some other really great uses. For example, it's a great size for storing shoes in a hallway."
She's been a long time coming, but we think The Standard is worth the wait. We're so excited to see her out in the world!
